PROJECTED COMMUNITY & ECONOMIC IMPACT
The development of a revitalized gaming and entertainment destination in Ottawa will recapture spending from Ontario residents and tourists who are currently traveling to Quebec for gaming and entertainment. It’s estimated that nearly $60M is lost to the neighboring province on an annual basis.
Hard Rock and Rideau Carleton Casino are investing more than $350 million over the course of the multi-phased project, which is expected to create in excess of 4,500 direct and indirect construction and ongoing employment opportunities in the City of Ottawa, as well as over 700 employment opportunities at the facility once the expansion is complete.
The project is entirely funded by Hard Rock and Rideau Carleton Casino, and is expected to generate over $206 million in tax revenue for the Province of Ontario, the Federal Government, and the City of Ottawa once fully complete. Since 2019, OLG has given back over $1.82 billion in profit to the Province of Ontario from land-based casinos. In that same time, approximately $302 million went to municipalities and Indigenous communities that host casinos.
